Cumbrian based children's author

I have always loved writing. In fact, I wrote my first story when I was five, about a postman and a dog. I remember that, because I was awarded a sticker for my efforts!
Once I left school, I stopped writing stories, went to university to study German and Italian and got a job as a graduate trainee at a luxury fashion chain. I went from there into management consultancy and then onto marketing and back to consultancy, but I knew all along something was missing.
I decided to do an MA in creative writing at Lancaster University and absolutely loved it! I discovered that I really enjoyed writing in a child's voice. From that moment, I knew I had to write a book for children and Mr. Nobody was born. You can find out more about my first novel on My Books page.
I live in a beautiful corner of Cumbria with my husband, two girls, one dog, one cat and two rabbits. All the countryside photos on this website are taken near my home. When I'm not writing, looking after the girls, digging my veg patch, or spending time with my lovely husband, I have a "proper" job. I work as a management consultant, weaving stories into what I do wherever I can to help people and organisations view themselves through a different lens and be the best that they can be. Stories are all around us: the ones we tell others, the ones we tell ourselves, the ones we hear, the ones we'd like to hear. I like to think you have the choice to be the author of your story or a character within it. I know which I'd like to be. Mind you, my characters often tell me what story they want to tell...
